(Subclass 189)
This permanent visa category is assessed against the applicant’s skills. This stream is for points-tested skilled applicants who are not sponsored by an employer, a family member, or nominated by a state or territory government.
It allows you to live and work in Australia as a permanent resident independently.
(Subclass 189)
The Skilled Independent Visa (subclass 189) (New Zealand) stream is for New Zealand Special Category (subclass 444) visa holders who have shown a commitment and contribution to Australia to apply for permanent residence.
New Zealand citizens who are granted this permanent visa will be eligible to apply for Australian citizenship after 12 months (in addition to holding a Special Category visa for a period of five consecutive years).
If you are not a New Zealand citizen, you may be eligible to apply for the standard Skilled Independent visa (subclass 189) (Points-tested) stream instead.
(Subclass 190)
The sponsored skilled visa allows skilled workers who do not meet the point test for the skilled-independent visa to apply for permanent residency through state and territory nomination.
This permanent sponsored skilled visa category is assessed against the applicant’s skills and requires the nomination from a state or territory.
(Subclass 485)
This graduate visa (subclass 485) is for international students who have recently graduated from an Australian educational institution.
It lets you stay in Australia temporarily after you have finished your studies to gain work experience.
(Subclass 491)
This is a four-year regional provisional visa which gives the applicant temporary immigration and residency.
This visa is specifically designed to encourage migrants to live and work in regional areas of Australia where there are large skills shortages.
